RE: Wayne Rainey Rides Again

I was just reading that on Crash.net. Nearly as fantastic as KR on the TZ tracker replica at Indy.
I was riding home from Springfield Mile a few years ago when I spotted a bike up ahead with a strange-looking contraption on the back. When I got closer, I could see there was a wheelchair on a rack, so I assumed the rider accommodated a paralyzed passenger, even though the rider was solo. He put on his signal to take an exit, so I followed him out of curiosity. As he slowed for the stop at the top of the ramp, a small set of outrigger wheels deployed and he flat-turned it, the tiny wheels retracting as he gained speed and stability.
I know there are differing degrees of paralysis, but one way or another, if you really want to ride, there's always a way.

I'm surprised it took Wayne this long to try a bike again. Somewhere there's a video of a guy
in the UK who is a paraplegic and races and does well. There are several people riding bikes with
outriggers too. On the Barf forum we have a member who has a paralyzed left arm. He does track days and
is planning on racing again with his arm strapped to his chest. Where there's a will there's a way.
